Marin Poetry Center presents poets Jacqueline Berger and Alexandra Teague
in a reading at the Falkirk Cultural Center, 1408 Mission Street, San Rafael, CA 94912

Jacqueline Berger’s first book, The Mythologies of Danger, won the Bluestem Award and was published in 1998. It also won the 1998 Bay Area Book Reviewers Association (BABRA) Award. Her second book, Things That Burn, was chosen by Mark Strand as the 2004 winner of the Agha Shahid Ali Prize and was published through the University of Utah Press in 2005. Her third book, The Gift That Arrives Broken, was selected by Alicia Ostriker as the 2009 winner of the Autumn House Poetry Prize and was published in 2010. Jacqueline is the director of the Master of Arts in English program at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. She lives in San Francisco with her husband.
Alexandra Teague’s first book of poetry, Mortal Geography, won the Lexi Rudnitsky Prize and was published by Persea in April 2010. Her work has also appeared in Best New Poets 2008, Best American Poetry 2009, and The Yale Anthology of Younger American Poetry, as well as journals including The Missouri Review, The Iowa Review, and New England Review. Alexandra was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and has since lived in Arkansas, Missouri, Florida, Montana, Hawaii, and California. She currently teaches English at City College of San Francisco and lives in Oakland.
